House Passes Bill Overriding EPA Regulation of Coal Ash

The U.S. House of Representatives Sept. 19 passed the Stop the War on Coal Act (H.R. 3409), a package of bills that benefits the construction industry by preventing drastic increases in energy costs, avoiding the disruption of crucial supply chains and preserving existing jobs. EPA Again Delays Rules For Stormwater Turbidity On Construction Sites

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Aug. 12 announced plans to withdraw the numeric limit portion of its stormwater management regulations for construction sites, the Effluent Limitations Guidelines (ELG). The rule originally was slated to take effect in January 2011, butenforcement was suspended due to challenges filed by industry groups and the U.S. Small Business Administration.

ABC Hightlights Need For Regulatory Reform In letter To House Committee

ABC sent a letter to the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman outlining the most egregious existing, proposed and upcoming federal regulatory activity that is detrimental to ABC members and the construction industry. ABC sent the letter in response to a request by Issa to 150 companies, trade groups and think tanks requesting information regarding regulations hindering job growth in the industry. EPA Withdraws Portions Of Stormwater Management Rule

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Aug. 13 announced that it will be withdrawing a key portion of the new stormwater management regulations for construction sites, the Effluent Limitations Guidelines (ELG), originally published in Dec. 2009.
