The U.S. House of Representatives March 15 voted 215-202 to pass the Supporting Knowledge and Investing in Lifelong Skills Act (H.R. 803), which will strengthen the workforce development system and increase employment opportunities by creating a more streamlined approach that focuses on businesses’ hiring and training needs.

Since its launch in February, ABC members have used the ABC Action app to send more than 3200 letters to their elected officials addressing issues critical to the merit shop construction industry.

ABC, in conjunction with four other construction groups, advocated for a reasonable and balanced approach to comprehensive immigration reform in a Feb. 22 letter sent to the “Gang of Eight,” a bipartisan group of Senators working on the same issue. The letterwas signed by ABC, Associated General Contractors, Leading Builders of America, National Association of Home Builders and National Roofing Contractors Association.
