NLRB Finalizes Rule That Limits Employer Rights During Union Elections

The two-member Democratic majority of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) finalized a rule that is another step toward dramatically shortening the length of time between when a petition is filed and a union election takes place. The rule will be officially published in the Dec. 22 edition of the Federal Register.

ABC Joins Group To Support Repeal Of The Health Insurance Tax

ABC is joining more than 30 other organizations as part of the Stop the HIT Coalition to support the Jobs and Premium Protection Act (S. 1880), introduced Nov. 16 in the U.S. Senate, which would repeal the Health Insurance Tax (HIT) contained in Section 9010 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).

House Passes Bill to Prevent NLRB “Ambush Elections” Proposal

The U.S. House of Representatives Nov. 30 passed the Workforce Democracy and Fairness Act (H.R. 3094) by a vote of 235-188. The bill is designed to counteract a proposed rule from the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) that would shorten the timeframe for union organizing elections and reverse the Board’s recent decision in Specialty Healthcare.  READ MORE

Decision To Rush Vote On Ambush Elections Brings NLRB Under Fire
