ABC sent out an action alert for ABC members to urge their members of Congress to remove unnecessary, job-killing provisions in the US Innovation and Competition Act/America COMPETES Act bills.

On April 26, ABC sent a letter to the House and Senate highlighting specific harmful labor policies of H.R. 4521 and S. 1260 that ABC hopes to eliminate from the final compromise legislation, including instituting “card-check” provisions, expanding inaccurate prevailing wage requirements and restricting access to the nation’s registered apprenticeship system.

On May 12, the House and Senate conference committee negotiating the bills will meet for the first time. While a timeline on when the conference committee will produce a final deal remains unclear, the hope is to finish the legislation ahead of the August congressional recess.
