On Oct. 17, ABC joined Associated General Contractors of America, the Independent Electrical Contractors and the National Association of Home Builders in sending a letter to President Biden to express serious concerns about severe shortages in the supply of transformers and other electrical components.
The letter highlights the shortage of key electrical components and particularly transformers, switchgear, switchboards, circuit breakers and other key material inputs that continue to plague the construction industry and undermine the ability of U.S. businesses to build and repair housing, schools and critical infrastructure.
Further, the letters ask that the White House convene a summit with affected stakeholders to discuss solutions to these problems. Focused attention on these matters is needed to resolve these shortages and rebuild critical infrastructure in disaster-affected areas and across the United States where projects have been put on hold due to shortages.
