For the 20th consecutive year, TDIndustries has been named on Fortune magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work For®” list. Ranked number 44, TDIndustries jumped 21 spots from its 2016 placement. The list is based on employee ratings of their workplace culture, including the level of trust they feel towards leaders, the pride they take in their jobs and the camaraderie they experience with co-workers.
The 2016 National Safety Award Pinnacle, Excellence and Merit Winners are:
ABC announced three finalists for its annual Young Professional of the Year Award on Oct. 26. Finalists were chosen based on their career achievement, leadership and vision for the future of the commercial and industrial construction industry from a field of more than 30 nominations representing 20 ABC chapters across the country.
The 2015 National Safety Award Pinnacle, Excellence and Merit Winners are:
Seventeen ABC member companies were honored as 2015 Greater Baton Rouge Industry Alliance (GBRIA) Contractor Safety Excellence Award recipients. Each year, the awards are presented to companies who have demonstrated a level of safety excellence that includes thousands and millions of hours worked without injury, a commitment by management to educate workers, and a culture where accidents do not happen. The awards were presented on March 19 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Seven ABC member companies, representing 26 chapters, were ranked in Fortune Magazine’s annual “Top 100 Companies to Work For” list. They include: Acuity, Plante Moran, Baker Donelson, PCL Construction, Ernst & Young, TDIndustries and Hilti.
During the Careers in Construction Awards Ceremony March 6, ABC recognized Holley Thomas, a foreman for KBR, Houston, Texas, as its 2015 Craft Professional of the Year and Jonathan Sacks, transmission and distribution training manager for Cianbro, Pittsfield, Maine, as its 2015 Craft Instructor of the Year. The awards were presented during ABC’s Workforce Conference in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
ABC member companies were honored by the Construction Users Roundtable (CURT) as they accepted 11 out of the 14 Construction Industry Safety Excellence (CISE) awards at the Nov. 11 CURT National Awards gala in Houston, Texas.

By submitting an application for the 25th Annual National Excellence in Construction (EIC) Awards, your company and project team can join the hundreds of ABC member companies who have been recognized on a national scale for their work.
National Safety Excellence Award (NSEA) applications are due Oct. 31 and can be downloaded on ABC’s website. All 2014 Safety Training Evaluation Process (STEP) Diamond and Platinum recipients are eligible to apply and there is no fee to participate. New STEP Gold recipients may also apply for the NSEA by submitting the NSEA Gold application and $450 application fee. ABC members who do not have STEP status can learn more about STEP on ABC’s website.
Wurster Construction Co., Inc., Indianapolis, Ind., a member of the Indiana/Kentucky Chapter; Cycle Construction Company, LLC, Kenner, La., a member of the New Orleans/Bayou Chapter; Circle Electric, Inc., Menommonee Falls, Wis., a member of the Wisconsin Chapter; Pinkerton & Laws, Marietta, Ga., a member of the Georgia Chapter; and Milender White Construction Co., Arvada, Colo., a member of the Rocky Mountain Chapter have been awarded Accredited Quality Contractor (AQC) status by ABC.

STEP Platinum and Diamond recipients that would like to participate in the 2014 Construction Users Roundtable (CURT) Construction Industry Safety Excellence (CISE) awards must submit their applications to ABC by July 7.
The ABC student chapter at Montgomery College, Rockville, Md., was named the 2014 Student Chapter of the Year, which recognized them for their outstanding and extensive programming, community service and involvement with ABC during the past year. The student chapter will be honored at the Careers in Construction Awards ceremony May 2 in Birmingham, Ala.

ABC Feb. 11 congratulated the winners of the 24th annual Excellence in Construction Awards– the industry’s leading competition, where the top construction projects and the firms that displayed exemplary commitment to safety and diversity in 2013 were recognized during the awards celebration at the Grand Wailea in Maui, Hawaii.
Interstates Companies, Sioux Center, Iowa, was named Associated Builders and Contractors’ (ABC) 2013 Contractor of the Year during the 24th annual Excellence in Construction Awards ceremony, which was held Feb. 11 in Maui, Hawaii.

ABC members who want to apply for the National Safety Excellence Awards (NSEA) have until Friday, Oct. 25 to submit their applications. New for 2013, Safety Training Evaluation Process (STEP) Gold recipients are eligible to apply for the award along with all 2013 Diamond and Platinum recipients.
The ABC National Diversity Excellence Awards recognize members that display exemplary diversity leadership in their workforce, supply chain and community with best-in-class recruitment policies, retention practices, and training and mentoring programs. Registration is open until Nov. 15.
ABC awarded former National Chairman James (Jim) W. Elmer, founder and president of James W. Elmer Construction Co., Spokane, Wash., a Life Membership award. He was presented this honor June 11 at ABC’s National Board of Directors meeting in Washington, D.C.
The San Diego District Office of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) April 17 named BPI Plumbing as their Veteran-Owned Small Business of the Year and Michael Jason Ianni, president of M Bar C Construction, Inc., as the California Small Business Person of the Year.
