In an April 17 letter to a U.S. House of Representatives subcommittee in response to its hearing, “Reviewing the Impact of the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs' (OFCCP) Regulatory and Enforcement Actions,” ABC reacted to a recent OFCCP proposed rulemaking that would set hiring quotas for federal contractors to employ workers with disabilities, in addition to requiring greatly increased recordkeeping and affirmative action steps.

Capping off ABC’s celebration of craft training for the 75th anniversary of the passage of the National Apprenticeship Act, ABC is reminding its members that in November 2011, ABC updated its National Model Guidelines for Apprenticeship Standards to allow distance learning; competency- and technology-based language; a hybrid and interim credential carpentry program; and reduce payment of benefits as part of the wage and fringe benefits ratios.

House Speaker John Boehner Oct. 11 announced that ABC member and Oklahoma small businessman Markwayne Mullin will deliver the Weekly Republican Address on Saturday, Oct. 13.
