At ABC’s second annual Industrial Users Summit, merit shop contractors discussed issues regarding labor, safety, productivity and working with the client with some of the top industrial construction users in the country.

In the session “Construction Contracting Strategies,” panelists from Cajun, LyondellBassell and Phillips 66 discussed how a user decides on a contracting method, the pros and cons of each approach and how contractors and their clients can work together to complete a project as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Another panel with representatives from companies such as S&B’s power group, Fluor and Exxon dove into the demand for construction labor and how to recruit the new generation, how to remain safe and productive on the jobsite and how merit shop contractors an integral part of creating a skilled workforce.

Other topics included optimizing jobsite productivity, safety procedures, ways to use modularization and prefabrication to mitigate labor risks.
