On April 20, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division released its schedule of upcoming Davis-Bacon and Related Acts Wage Surveys. These voluntary surveys are used by the WHD to determine the prevailing wage rate for construction workers on federal and federally assisted projects over $2,000.

The WHD is planning surveys on highway construction in:

  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • New Hampshire
  • West Virginia

The WHD is also planning wage rate surveys for building construction in Maine, and building, heavy, highway and residential construction in Guam.

Responding to these surveys is important to ensure prevailing wage rates are as accurate as possible. More information on the process can be found on the WHD’s website.

In addition, ABC’s own survey on the Davis-Bacon Act is still open. This survey gauges ABC members’ opinions and experiences with Davis-Bacon and Related Acts regulations and specifically the Department of Labor’s proposed updates. The proposed changes would reverse previous reforms and expand Davis-Bacon covered work, as explained in this article by Littler Mendelson. Receiving as many responses as possible will be vital to pushing back on these harmful regulations.

Contractor members who have not responded already to the survey can do so here. The survey will close at 5 p.m. ET on Monday, May 2.
