The General Services Administration (GSA) Feb. 5 issued a request for information regarding their review of green building certification systems for use in federal buildings.

Section 436 of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 requires GSA to evaluate green building certification systems every five years to identify a system and certification level that “will be most likely to encourage a comprehensive and environmentally sound approach to the certification of green federal buildings.” After the review, GSA provides a recommendation to the Secretary of Energy, who works with the GSA Administrator and the Secretary of Defense to identify a green building certification system for federal buildings.

The notice can be found here: http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2013-02-05/pdf/2013-02408.pdf. It contains links to GSA’s review of green building certification systems and standards and instructions for submitting comments. Comments are due by April 8.
